Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November 2026, followed by Cyber Monday on 30 November. The weeks before the campaign are your opportunity to check whether the offer, storefront and fulfilment operation work together.
This Black Friday 2026 Shopify checklist focuses on checks you can actually perform: protecting contribution, finding mobile friction, testing discount rules and confirming that a completed order reaches the right systems.

1. Give preparation a clear timetable
Starting early leaves time to fix problems and test the fix. A broken variant selector discovered after an email send is harder to handle than one found during a quiet rehearsal.
- 31 October–6 November: agree the offer, eligible products, stock allocation and minimum acceptable contribution.
- 7–13 November: improve mobile journeys, product information and campaign pages.
- 14–20 November: test discounts, email journeys, tracking and fulfilment handover.
- 21–26 November: rehearse the launch, approve scheduled changes and avoid unnecessary theme or app releases.
- 27–30 November: monitor orders, customer problems, stock and campaign economics.
Assign an owner to each task and keep a short record of the expected result. Your regular Shopify maintenance checks are a useful starting point.
2. Build an offer your margins can support
Choose the commercial objective first: acquire customers, clear selected stock or increase basket size. Then compare a selected-product discount, bundle, spending threshold or delivery incentive against that objective.
Calculate expected revenue after discounts, then subtract product cost, payment fees, picking, packaging, delivery subsidy, expected returns and advertising cost. Use figures on a consistent VAT basis.
Document exclusions, customer eligibility, minimum spend and start and end times. Confirm the store time zone when scheduling: Shopify’s amount-off discount guidance explains how active dates follow it. Keep advertised savings and comparison prices accurate.
3. Audit mobile speed on buying pages
Start with Shopify’s web performance reports, which cover loading, interactivity and visual stability across desktop and mobile. Review priority product, collection and campaign URLs, rather than checking only the homepage.
On a real phone, load an important product on a mobile connection. Watch when its main image appears, tap a variant, open the cart and use collection filters. Record delayed responses and content that moves under your finger.
Resize campaign imagery, review unnecessary app widgets and remove redundant scripts carefully. Retest reviews, subscriptions and consent controls after changes. Follow the Shopify speed optimisation checklist for a fuller investigation; a lab score alone cannot confirm that shopping feels smooth.
4. Make products and collections easy to shop
Open the pages your ads and emails will promote. Can a new customer understand the product, select the right option and find delivery information without searching through several accordions?
- Check variant names, imagery, size guidance, current prices and stock messages.
- Put important specifications and product differences where customers can compare them.
- Check sale collection membership, merchandising order, filters and sold-out products.
- Add a clear navigation route to the campaign collection, then test search with common product names.
Test long titles, unusual sizes and unavailable variants on mobile. The conversion-leak diagnostic guide can help prioritise friction before adding more promotional sections.
5. Test discounts, cart and checkout together
In Shopify Admin, review each campaign discount’s products, customer restrictions, minimum requirements, usage limits and combination settings. Shopify’s discount combination rules vary by discount class and eligibility; both discounts must permit a supported combination.
Build a small test matrix: an eligible product, an excluded product, a mixed basket, quantities just below and at the threshold, and a returning customer using an existing welcome code. Include automatic discounts, bundles and free shipping where relevant.
Change quantities and remove products in the cart drawer. Check the final saving at checkout, not only the banner. Test an expired or invalid code and confirm that the message makes sense. Use the payment methods customers actually see, including accelerated checkout where available.
6. Align stock, delivery and returns
Confirm stock by variant and fulfilment location. Check whether overselling is enabled intentionally, whether bundles consume the expected components and whether stock feeds update reliably.
Try representative UK delivery addresses, including any regions with different rates or restrictions. Verify shipping thresholds against discounted baskets and check collection or local delivery if offered.
Agree realistic dispatch expectations with the fulfilment team. Match the campaign page, product pages, checkout information and order emails. Make returns information easy to find, describe any legitimate product-specific conditions clearly and remove outdated delivery promises before traffic increases.
7. Prepare email segments and recovery flows
Separate useful audiences: engaged subscribers who have not purchased, existing customers and buyers interested in a relevant product range. Shopify’s customer segments update as customers meet or stop meeting their rules. Preview membership and check marketing permissions before scheduling.
Prepare announcement, reminder and closing messages with consistent offer terms. Send tests to a phone and desktop inbox; check subject lines, links, images, discount expiry and unsubscribe controls.
Review abandoned-checkout timing, eligibility, recovery links and suppression after purchase. Shopify currently manages these automations through Shopify Messaging; if you use Klaviyo, check that equivalent flows are not sending duplicate reminders. The Klaviyo setup checklist covers the surrounding integration checks.
8. Give campaign traffic a focused landing page
Match the destination to the promise. An advert for a specific collection should lead to that collection or a relevant campaign page, with eligible products and a clear route to purchase.
Keep offer terms, useful product evidence, delivery information and the main action easy to scan. Remove competing pop-ups, unrelated announcements and unsupported urgency. Test that a dismissible overlay stays dismissed and never covers checkout controls.
Use the campaign landing-page guide to review message consistency. If implementation needs support, RexCode’s Black Friday storefront-readiness services focus on storefront checks and Shopify theme improvements for peak trading.
9. Verify SEO, tracking and attribution
Check that intended campaign pages return HTTP 200, have clear titles and descriptions, use the correct canonical URL and are linked from relevant pages. Avoid replacing established product URLs simply to add a seasonal phrase. Use the product and collection SEO checklist for the technical pass.
Agree a consistent UTM naming convention across email and paid advertising. Open the actual campaign link and check that redirects retain its parameters. Keep UTMs off ordinary internal navigation links.
Follow a test journey through view_item, add_to_cart, begin_checkout and purchase, using Google’s GA4 ecommerce guidance. Inspect item identifiers, currency, value and transaction ID. Check your advertising platform’s test-event tools for missing or duplicate purchase signals.
Use GA4 DebugView for event debugging, with debug mode enabled. Test consent choices separately; denied analytics consent affects visibility. Compare attribution in acquisition reports and expect differences between platforms’ reporting windows and models.
10. Rehearse the complete customer journey
Ask someone outside the build to start from a scheduled email or advert preview. They should land on the correct page, find an eligible product, choose a variant, apply the offer, select delivery and complete an agreed test purchase.
Shopify’s test-order guidance explains simulated payments and real-payment testing. Customers cannot place live orders while payment providers are in test mode, so schedule this carefully and restore live settings immediately afterwards. A real order may incur payment fees.
Verify the order confirmation, stock adjustment, fulfilment handover and recovery-flow suppression. Record the device, browser, basket and result. Repeat after any fix affecting these steps, then keep a known-good theme version and rollback owner available.
11. Monitor Black Friday weekend with clear ownership
Agree check-in times and who can pause advertising or change an offer. Watch orders and payment failures, checkout progression, stock, delivery questions, spend and contribution. Break results down by device and campaign when investigating a change.
If add-to-cart activity holds steady but purchases fall, inspect checkout, discount and shipping behaviour before changing the headline. Check sample orders against analytics and advertising reports. Keep an incident log so each intervention has a reason and a result.
After Cyber Monday, remove expired messages, check scheduled discounts and review returns alongside revenue. Keep useful campaign URLs available with accurate content for the next season.

Frequently asked questions
When are Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2026?
Black Friday is 27 November 2026. Cyber Monday is 30 November. Set your own campaign dates explicitly and check scheduled discounts against the store time zone.
Does every Shopify product need a discount?
No. Select products and incentives that fit your objective, stock position and contribution target. A narrower offer can be easier to explain and operate.
Can automatic discounts and codes work together?
Supported combinations can, when each discount permits the combination and the store meets the relevant eligibility rules. Test the actual basket and exclusions before advertising it.
What should a small team prioritise first?
Check offer economics, mobile product selection, cart and payment behaviour, stock, delivery information and tracking. Resolve purchase-blocking issues before adding campaign decoration.
A useful Black Friday plan connects the offer customers see with the order your team can fulfil. Use the remaining weeks to remove uncertainty, rehearse the buying journey and give someone clear responsibility for each check.
